Turob To‘la began writing poetry in the 1930s. His first collection of poems was printed in 1939.
In the years 1941-1945, he expressed our people's hatred for fascism through his poems on military themes. The poems in the poet's collections «Shodligim» (My Joy, 1941) and «Tabassum» (Smile, 1944) were also dedicated to heroic warriors.
Turob To‘la participated in the creation of several film novellas, including the scripts for the films «Rais» (The Chairman), «Marg‘ilonlik qiz» (The Girl from Margilan), «Talant» (Talent), «Maftuningman» (I Am Enchanted by You), «Furqat», «Shashmaqom», «To‘qqizinchi asr monologi» (Monologue of the Ninth Century), and «Qahr» (Wrath), some of which he wrote himself.
Turob To‘la also became famous as a playwright, and his plays «Qari qiz» (Old Maid), «Qizbuloq», «Momo Yer» (Mother Earth, based on the work of Ch. Aytmatov), «Nodirabegim», and «Qahr» were performed in the theaters of the republic. He also wrote the librettos for the opera «Zulmatdan ziyo» (Light from Darkness, based on Oybek's novel «Qutlug‘ qon») as well as the ballet «Samarqand afsonasi» (Legend of Samarkand).
